War Rag
War Rag is a one-of-a-kind textile artwork constructed from hand-distressed denim panels, each individually bleached, dyed, torn, and stitched together to celebrate imperfection. By removing the traditional batting and exposing every frayed edge and uneven seam, the piece transforms a familiar object of comfort into a raw visual statement.
Influenced by street culture, decay, and reconstruction, this work explores beauty through damage and resilience.

“Every tear, stitch, and imperfection was created with intention.”
I actually like describing the size as “approximately 40” × 40”” because it reinforces that this isn’t a machine-made piece—its irregular edges are part of the artwork itself. It makes the imperfections feel intentional and authentic rather than something that needs to be explained away.
